Share methods and experiences in repairing steam engines
Hong Kong Junhong Electrical Appliance Repair Center previously repaired a Jiffy Steamer steam engine. When the maintenance staff arrived at the laundry room, they found that the water tank of the steam engine had a lot of scale. Therefore, they also helped the boss clean the steam engine while doing repairs. In fact, equipment such as steam engines are less likely to malfunction as long as they pay attention to daily maintenance. Next, let me share my experience and insights in repairing steam engines.
1. What’s wrong with insufficient steam in the steam engine?
In fact, most of the steam engines repaired by Hong Kong Junhong Electrical Repair Center are related to improper daily maintenance. Like the Jiffy Steamer steam engine just mentioned, there is too much scale, and there are also faults in the heating element. Let’s talk about it in detail below. How to troubleshoot insufficient steam in a steam engine:
(1) When servicing a steam engine, first check the water level in the water tank and whether there is scale after the power is turned off. Even for high-pressure steam engines, pay attention to keeping the water level and clean, otherwise the pressure will gradually decrease.
(2) If it is found that there is no abnormality in the water tank after inspection, then you should check whether the nozzle is blocked. If the water quality is poor and there are many minerals, it is normal for the nozzle to be clogged. Just use a professional cleaner to clean it.
(3) Another situation of insufficient steam is that there is a problem with the heating component. A more effective repair method is to directly replace the faulty component.
(4) If there is no problem with the above, it depends on the control mainboard. For example, if the pressure and steam conditions displayed on the control mainboard are obviously inconsistent, it means that the control mainboard is faulty, and the control mainboard must be replaced.
2. What happens if the steam engine has too much water damage?
Every time Hong Kong Junhong Electrical Service Center staff repair steam engines, they pay attention to the environment. This is because some customers are unaware of steam engine leaks when they encounter them. So let’s talk about how to judge and solve steam engine leaks.
(1) When encountering water leakage from the steam engine, turn off the power and check the water tank and water pipes so that you can directly visually determine whether there is any damage. For hidden pipes, you can use pressure to detect whether there are leaks.
(2) If there is no problem with the water pipe of the water tank, you should check the sealing ring. Water leakage caused by aging of the sealing ring is very common, and then check where the leakage is obvious. For example, if there is a lot of water stains on the nozzle, check whether the nozzle is blocked.
(3) If there is no problem with the above, disassemble the shell and check the valve and other components. If the valve is stuck, water leakage will occur. And when replacing the valve, it is recommended to choose a high-quality copper valve, which has better corrosion resistance and is more durable.
What I have shared above is my experience and experience in repairing steam engines. In fact, in most cases, steam engine failures are related to water quality. If white scale is very easy to appear in our water tank, it means that the sodium and magnesium ions exceed the standard. We can consider using a screening program to improve the water quality. Thereby reducing the failure rate of steam engines and improving efficiency.
